Hillcrest 4-Ball Results

The inaugural Hillcrest 4-Ball was played Saturday - Sunday, July 18-19. A strong field of regional amateurs and professionals competed in the 2 day event that featured a guaranteed 1st place payout of $1,000. Winning with a birdie on the first playoff hole, after having tied at a fantastic score of 15 under par (129) were Minnesota Professional Eric Rolland and amateur Jordan Ensrud. Taking second were Professional Aaron Nelson (Sioux Creek, Chetek) and amateur Andrew Longbella. 13 teams comprised the Championship Division. Taking 1st place in the Flight Division were Hillcrest's own Mark Johnson and Gary Padfield with a 2 day net score of 124.

Hillcrest Pro-Member Results

Friday, July 17 saw the inaugural Hillcrest Pro-Member Tournament. 7 teams competed on a blustery July day with temperatures barely reaching 60 degrees. Host professional Jim Maguire led the winning team of Greg Brandrup, Gary Robarge, and Pat Callahan in the 2 net bestball of 4 event with a winning team score of 120 (24 under par). Maguire also captured Low Pro honors with a round of $68. The event was followed by a delicious seafood buffet served by Fischer's on the Green. Special thanks to Northwood's Brewing Company for sponsoring the event and Dave and Jeanette Suchla for organizing the social event following play.

PGA McGladery Team Championship Results

The Local Qualifying Tournament of the PGA McGladery Team Championship was held Saturday, June 20 at Hillcrest. The winning team of Dave Jopke, Bill Peterson, and Paul Hanke outlasted the 3-some of Ben Proctor, Steve Danielson, and Barry Bernicke in a 5 hole playoff. Both teams tied in regulation play with 11 under par 61 in a 1 net bestball of 3 format.

The winning team will advance with Head Golf Professional Jim Maguire to the Sectional Championship at Janesville Country Club on Thursday, August 13.

Member's "Teeing Off" Party Report

The 2nd annual "Teeing Off Party" was held on Friday, May 15th, and approximately 100 Hillcrest members attended. It was a great opportunity to meet new members and to reminisce with current members. Dave and Teresa Fischer set up a delicious buffet that included hot and cold hors d'oeuvres for members to enjoy. Members had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for clothing from the pro shop and to "Split the Pot". Linda Archibald and Blythe Loyd won the pro shop clothing while Mary Nelson was the winner of $250 from the "Split the Pot" raffle. Thanks to Karen and Gary Padfield, Dave Suchla, and the pro-shop for donating items for door prizes. It was a fun evening! Our next club social event will be June 12 when we will have a "Western Night" steak feed.

As a member of the Wisconsin State Golf Association, Hillcrest members have the opportunity to purchase 2010 PGA Championship Tickets in advance of the May 29 public offering. Sponsorship Opportunities at Hillcrest

Hillcrest is looking for Title Sponsors for 2 new events in 2009.

The first event, The Hillcrest 4-Ball, will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 30-31. The event will be open to members and non-members, pros and amateurs, male and female participants. The format is a 36 hole, 2 person bestball with a Championship (Pro-Am or Am-Am) Division, and Flighted Divisions based on handicap. The sponsorship fee for this event is $1,000 and includes the following; complimentary entry fee into the event for 2 people ($200 value), contact information for all participants, exclusive billing on all advertising and on-site visibility throughout the event. The Hillcrest 4-Ball will be promoted at many courses in Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as to active professional and amateur players alike. FYI - there is not another event like this, in this area. 2 person events are extremely popular and we anticipate this event to be very successful for years to come.

Our second new event this year is the Hillcrest Pro-Member to be held Friday, July 17. The event will be 18 holes with teams consisting of 1 Professional and 3 (or 4) Amateurs from Hillcrest. The sponsorship fee for this event is $500 and includes the following; complimentary entry fee ($50 value), pick of professional to play with, contact information for all participants, exclusive billing in all intra-club promotion and 1 complimentary golf lesson.

Spring Cleaning Donations to Hillcrest

Hillcrest plans on offering a number of new and free, family amenities to our membership in 2009. The lower level of the clubhouse is currently being repainted and cleaned up to use as a "Game Room" for kids and adults alike. Congratulations Everett Blakeley - Hole-in-One

Congratulations Everett Blakely, who used a 7-iron to make a Hole-In-One on the 100 yard 10th hole on the Palmetto Course at The Glades in Naples Florida. Although the exact date is not known (the week of Jan 16-22) - there were ample witnesses to confirm the ace.

Jimmy Buffet / Margaritaville Night

Hey Parrotheads!!!! Stop on over to the Members "Margaritaville" Grill on Friday, February 20 from 6:00 - 9:00 for Jimmy Buffet Night. Wear your tropical shirts (and parrotheads if you've got 'em) and enjoy an evening of good music and great camaraderie. Margaritas will be available for $3.00 and bottles of Corona for $2.50.
